Brazil displayed their star quality as they made easy work of the challenge of Greece with a 3-0 victory in their opening FIFA Confederations Cup match in Leipzig's Zentralstadion. Adriano, Robinho and Juninho Pernambucano got the goals as the South American champions climbed to the top of Group B.
A resilient Greece defence held out until the 42nd minute when Adriano opened the scoring with a wonderful strike from distance. Moments after the restart Carlos Alberto Parreira's side gained the cushion of a second goal thanks to a fine stretching finish at the far post by Budweiser Man of the Match Robinho. Substitute Juninho Pernambucano rounded off a good night's work on 81 minutes by leaving Antonios Nikopolodis stranded with a free-kick perfectly positioned inside the keeper's right-hand post.
