Deportivo Saprissa (CRC) were beaten 3:0 by Liverpool FC (ENG) in the semifinals of the 2005 FIFA Club World Championship at the International Stadium in Yokohama, Japan on Thursday.
Peter Crouch opened the scoring for Liverpool on the third minute-mark and then Steven Gerrard made it 2:0 in the 32nd minute of the first half. Crouch scored his second goal of the match in the 58th minute for the victory.

Liverpool FC will meet Sao Paulo FC (BRA) in the 2005 FIFA Club World Championship Final on Sunday (18 December) at Yokohama?s International Stadium. Meanwhile in the earlier third-place match on Sunday, Deportivo Saprissa takes on Al Ittihad (KSA).

This is the second consecutive FIFA Club World Championship that a CONCACAF team will play the third-place match; previously CID Necaxa (MEX) defeated Real Madrid (ESP) 4:3 on penalty kicks to claim the third-place honours at the 2000 tournament held in Brazil.
