The two Port-au-Prince clubs have a long history of success in Haiti's Premiere division and dominated the league for several decades. Violette AC and Racing CH are undoubtedly the most popular and well known Haitian Football clubs but with all the tribulations that the country faces it's fascinating to see fans supporting their favorite team in such large numbers. The worst and most recent plague that Haiti is facing is the high risk of kidnapping that started after Haiti's last president Jean-Bertrand Aristide (Titide) was removed from power. After Titide left many businesses were destroyed by Pro-Aristide militia and their owners left the country due to substantiated fear of being kidnapped. For these reasons it has been difficult for football clubs to find local sponsors. Despite this harsh environment, the beautiful game of football that Haitians love so much finds a way to survive. Haitiwebs Soccer wants to thank the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) the Haitian football clubs and the fans for finding the courage to keep the ball rolling despite difficult conditions.
