I have myself experienced the paternalistic politics of the State of Bahia in Brazil which follow to the letter the control of the masses.Once a year the people can experience total libertinage without risking legal penalities in order to reduce their worries and frustrations, a tactic also taught by Machiavelli. Perhaps there is an urge for Lavalasse to do so right now for political reasons. You and I may not like it but it is a segment of the art of governing.Perhaps the political class in general will surpass that level one day.
