The Nominations are in for the 6th annual HME Awards 2002!
In it's efforts to continue recognizing Haitian achievements, La Reine Entertainment released the Nominations for the 6th HME Awards on Monday, February 11th, 2002.
The HME Awards is the only and largest star studded event of it's kind worldwide for Haitian/Creole heritage, culture and music, that honors and recognizes the creators, performers and producers of it's music.
A number of bands received four nominations such as Zenglen, Djakout Mizik, Zin, and new comer Carimi, while Mizik Mizik, Tabou Combo and Alan Cave are nominated in 3 categories. A list of qualifying albums, bands and artists were submitted to industry professionals, who then made recommendations to assist in properly placing them in the appropriate categories.
"The HME Awards continues to grow as the primer event for Haitian Music, and this year The City of Miami has joined in our efforts by being a major patron, and by hosting this years event before the world at The Miami Arena in Downtown Miami. And as the nominations indicate this year the competition is extremely tight. We are so excited" said Cynthia Blanc, President of La Reine Entertainment.
The Miami Arena is a 16,508-seat facility that has staged show such as Ricky Martin, NBA's Miami Heat, Disney on Ice, among others. The HME Awards will feature performances from some of Haitian music's biggest bands and highlight 16 categories covering many genres of Haitian music.
HME Awards Nominations ballots for the voting will be available online beginning February 22nd, on the HME Awards official website and throughout South Florida and New York Bobby Express locations.
Winners in the categories will be revealed for the first time during the 6th Annual
HME Awards which will be staged on Saturday, March 30th, 2002 at it's new home in the City of Miami at the Miami Arena in Downtown Miami and will be Hosted by Richie of Zenglen Supa Cindy of WEDR 99 JAMZ FM.

December 1st, 2000 through November 1st, 2001. Other nominations are based on performance in the South Florida and the New York area.
Voting ballots will also be available throughout New York & South Florida Bobby Express Locations.
NOTE: More than four nominations in a category are as a result of ties.
The Haitian Music & Entertainment Awards is strictly a competition & popularity based event.
