My name is Jennie. My husband and I have been saving for years to adopt a child. We looked at many international adoption programs and chose Haiti. In July of 2003 I went to Haiti to Port Au Prince and met the little girl that in just two short months is supposed to be coming to the United States and join our family. I don't know anything about the politics or governments or leaders of Haiti. I am just wondering if anyone knows whether the latest developments in Haiti are likely to have an impact on pending adoptions. Our case has gone through IBESR as well as the civil court. We are only waiting for a passport now. I am afraid that after all of the time we have waited and we are this close, the adoption will become impossible if a new government is in power. However I don't know anything about the new one or the existing one really. I only want this little girl to come to the United States and be our daughter. I am also worried that maybe food and medical care will be in short supply if it is true that roads have been blocked, etc. She is in an orphanage in Port Au Prince. If anyone has any information or opinions please, please reply.
