Haiti & Jamaica begin Caribbean Group D with victories
27.9.06 - Haiti and the host Jamaica began the 2007 Digicel Caribbean Cup First Round Group D with victories over St. Vincent & The Grenadines and St. Lucia, respectively, at the National Stadium in Kingston on Wednesday.
Goals from Jean Baptiste Fritzson, Herold Marc Gracien, Josue Mayard and Jean Jacques Pierre led Haiti (1-0-0, 3 Points) to a 4:0 win over St. Vincent & The Grenadines (0-1-0, 0 Points) in the first match on Wednesday.
In the second encounter, Kevin Lamey scored twice, while Demar Phillips and Wilfred Smith each added another for Jamaica (1-0-0, 3 Points) in the 4:0 victory against St. Lucia (0-1-0, 0 Points).
The Digicel Caribbean Cup Group D continues on Friday (29 September) at the National Stadium when St. Lucia meets Haiti at 17:00 and then St. Vincent & The Grenadines faces Jamaica at 19:00.
The qudrangular concludes on the 1 October in Kingston as St. Lucia takes on St. Vincent & The Grenadines at 16:00 and then Jamaica hosts Haiti at 18:00.
The top two teams from Group D will join Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Bahamas, Cuba, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique and Surinam in the second round of the 2007 Digicel Caribbean Cup taking place during October and November 2006 at venues to be announced.
The Final Round is scheduled for Trinidad & Tobago from 31 January ? 11 February.
