reply to krisanne's remarkablke comments

You?re completely right krisanne. When one considers the natural and legitimate development of things; Jimmy should be the man of and for the circumstance. But I still think the circumstances being not the same; the same causes might produce different effects. I saw Amistad and Hotel Rwanda; they are remarkable, Don Cheadles and Djimon Hounsou have seized well the opportunity and reached an - ?avant la lettre? -precocious - acting apogee.
I am not arguing between Wesley and Jean-Louis, you don?t know how Haitian I am, I am arguing potential success for the film, which would perhaps open up on a better vision of our grandiose history and a better appreciation of our haitian roots. My argument is about strategy, vision, opportunity that would make us incontestable values in a near future. We were, we were giants indeed; but we have lost our grandiose historical acquisitions, victims of political dogfights, but this is a different story. We almost have to start from scratch.
Another aspect of the question is that Spielberg is Hollywood; he?s been since 1959 with ?The Last Gun?, he has reached apogee with Taxi driver, Jaws , ET etc
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000229/filmoyear. His only name sells his movies because they vow him unconditional respect, and unconditional success is almost always anticipated in his case.
I am not questioning Danny?s talent, he is a true actor, always incarnate his role perfectly - principally in Angels in the outfield and the remarkable The Saint of Fort Washington - but his behind the camera gut has yet to prove equal to his in front of the camera gut, so he refuses to take the risk. Perhaps he wants to make of a the first attempt a masterpiece. Spielberg had nothing to lose with Amistad, Danny has a lot to miss in case of this project's failure. I am sure a cast of supporting talents would place Jimmy right up there where Don Cheadles and Djimon Hounsou are enjoying success. He has the look, the radiance and the physical condition to play the Precursor. It would be a cultural justice to give him; but?once again let?s cross our fingers.
In any case krisanne, you and I must confess that we?re both right. I am also an idealistic one, but pragmatism has spoiled our legitimate pursuits and so often wins the case that being realistic stays our only final recourse. Our arguments could be regarded as two arrows thrown at two different points, but destined to meet somewhere up there.
