MEET DERRICK ETIENNE: Forward played for Haitian National Team
A one-time member of the Haitian National Team, Derrick Etienne plays for the Long Island Rough Riders of the United Soccer League's Second Division.
Born along with his twin brother Darrell in Nyack, N.Y. on Aug. 11, 1974, the 6-foot, 165-pound Etienne attended Virginia Commonwealth University, majoring in communications and minoring in religion.
He turned pro with the Richmond Kickers in1998 and played with the A-League team through 2000. He joined the Rough Riders when he moved north to Paterson, N.J. in 2001 and has played with them since, helping the club capture the Pro Soccer League championship in 2002.
One of seven children and five brothers, Derrick and Darrell have done virtually everything together, including playing soccer, although an injury forced Darrell to the sidelines for the 2005 season, preaching and attending school. Derrick tied for the Rough Riders' lead in goals (nine) this past season. He is married to Shamone and has three children.
