Founded in 2004, Ecoist develops unique gifts and fashion accessories for the eco-minded individual.
Our objective is to merge design with social and environmental consciousness to provide stylish, functional, and durable products that people will love to own. All our products are made from recycled, organic, or earth-friendly materials, and are manufactured through our network of fair trade partnerships around the world.
We believe that style comes first. When designing our accessories, it is our basic assumption that no consumer will purchase our products because we are on the mission to save the Earth. Rather, people will buy what looks good on them, or what?s hot, or what celebrities are wearing. However, by promoting our brand, we hope to enhance the planet, elevate consumer consciousness, and transmit our values, not just our sense of style.
Ecoist collaborates with its network of accomplished designers to develop new sustainable products and collections. Are you an Ecoist ?
Let?s face it, we?ve been hearing about the importance of recycling, environmental conservation, and the threat of Global Warming for at least 20 years, and for some, since we were born. So, have we really done anything about it ? Unequivocal scientific studies prove that Global Warming and environmental negligence have already affected our health, climate, wildlife, and security. If we don?t act today, 20 years from now, Global Warming will not just be an issue to be reminded of, it will be a destructive force to be reckoned with.
Every individual has the power to make a positive change in the world. We, as consumers, are the ones that create demand for electricity, cars, clothing, and everyday products and services that directly affect the health of our environment. The goal is not to eliminate the products and luxuries that are apart of our lifestyles, but to seek alternatives that satisfy our needs in a healthy and ecologically sound manner. We believe an individual can enjoy his or her lifestyle in harmony with the Earth. That?s why we came up with the term ?Ecoist? and defined it as ?an individual that lives a modern, eco-minded lifestyle?.
It is our quest to spread the message of Sustainability, and it is our vision that every consumer will become an ?Ecoist?. We hope to inspire everyone to think differently about the things they buy, how they are made, and where they come from. We hope to make a difference.

What is Sustainability ?
In the most basic terms, Sustainability is the ability to provide for the needs (products and services) of the population in a socially and environmentally responsible manner, generation after generation.
In practical terms, Sustainability means driving hybrid cars, using renewable energy, recycling, buying eco-friendly products, eating organic food, eliminating sweatshops, and many other factors that would make our planet healthier. How is Ecoist a Sustainable Company ?
Ecoist recycles candy wrappers, food packages, billboards, and other materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. We are finding uses for waste-bound materials and will continue to do so until those non-biodegradable materials are no longer manufactured. Apart from recycling, Ecoist utilizes organic and earth-friendly fabrics in the manufacturing of it products.
One of the most exciting aspects of our business is the manufacturing and the people behind our production. Ecoist is continually developing its network of eco-friendly, fair trade suppliers and manufacturers around the world, including organizations in Mexico, Peru, Chile, Brazil, and India. For example, Ecoist works with a non-profit organization in Mexico called Grupedsac (Group for the Promotion of Education and Sustainable Development) who, since 1987, has helped underprivileged citizens earn a living through projects that also aim to preserve the environment.
