I have to say I really like Rachel Castera Herter's Art. It's like looking at Haiti through the eyes of a child when a child really pauses, looks and discovers the world surrounding her. They are moments of discovery. You can't call them impressionistic in style although they accomplish the Impressionistic objective. They are masterful without being contrived. They are both simple and complex, alertly focused and dreamlike, peaceful and serene, yet generate a sort of energetic Zen. These are painting to which one becomes attached. They capture life and bring it indoors, inside a room, inside a heart. Moments of peace in turbulent times.

Rachel Castera Herter is the 29th exposition to be featured in the "Artist of the Month" series. On the 15th of every month, Carrie Art Collection will feature an artist, their work and an interview with the preeminent Haitian art critic, Michel Philippe Lerebours.
