The energy drink 'Ciclón' hits Jamaica
published: Sunday | December 17, 2006
There's a new taste of energy in Jamaica and it is looking to 'blow away' the competition.
Ciclón, pronounced cyclone (although the Latin-tongued among us would say 'si-clon'), is Wisynco's answer to the popular Red Bull. The drink was launched at the Terra Nova Hotel on Wednesday night and it was a sporting affair in décor and activity.
This drink is reputed to be a can full of energy and since you need energy for sports, the pool side was turned into a multi-purpose arena accommodating a myriad of sporting events. Persons wearing the Ciclón brand were playing football, golf, basketball, cricket and even water polo. Young ladies dressed as some of the finest referees you'll ever see, handed out red and yellow cards to those 'players' who were misbehaving. But they also carried around plenty of the new drink for guests to sample.
General Manager for Ciclón in the region, Elmar Scheiber, said that the drink was here years ago but they were ahead of their time. Now aligned with Coca-Cola, Ciclón is already number one in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Haiti.
"We are a strong brand and to make sure we do well in Jamaica, we need a strong partner," he said in reference to Wisynco.
The sporting events never stopped as inside the covered Pavilion suite, guests who preferred dominoes, darts, pool and even a game of ludo could get away from the bustle outside. Guests won baskets of the new drink for beating (or trying to), Wisynco management at various games.
