I would avoid any foreign-language movie at all costs (possibly even thick-accented British ones too!), simply, because Forrest Gump, as you know, I am I find it tiring to both read the subtitles and watch the movie at the same time, BUT?
Last week I have the great pleasure of watching two very good French movies and enjoyed them immensely! I did not know the French could ACT! I did not know the French could produce such well-crafted thrillers, fantastic story lines and special effects too! They can.
?The Brotherhood of the Wolf? (Samuel Le Bihan, Mark Dacascos, Vincent Cassel) a very exhilarating movie to the very end! My heart is still pumping from
last night!
?Amelie? (Audrey Tautou, Mathieu Kassovitz) a very artistic, quirky, innovative love story, not unlike the ?Royal Tennambaum?in spirit. I bet you love that one too.
This movie will make you love only imperfection in your life! It is a beautiful reminder to all of us to strive for unconditional loving in all we do!
Once in my entire life these two really good French movies make me wish I were? French (honestly I never thought I would ever say that!). So please don't miss them!

French movies are much better crafted than American movies. There is an old saying: ?European movies are made for adults, American movies are made for kids.? that I think is overall true.
More recently, a movie critic reflected that: ?In Europe, teenagers go to the movies to see adults make love. In America, adults pay their tickets to see teenagers having sex.? This statement also matches the sad reality of a Hollywood where what matters is not ?How good??, but ?How much??
I am surprised that ?Brotherhood of the Wolf? (Le Pacte des Loups) was not nominated for an Oscar. ?Amelie?, on the other hand, was nominated in two categories: Best Foreign Film, and Best Screenplay.
Conclusion: Don?t ever miss a French or Italian movie with the right credentials: they are succulent.
