Kariz,
You are right but:
1. Most of the Haitians in Miami or NY made it to the US this way
2. When the "Diaspora people" go to Haiti they make it sound that the US is paradise and that everyone should do even the impossible to make to the US.
3. It's true that Haiti is worst than HELL for the moment for anyone who is not in drugs or within the government or within the banking system.
4. They show you on TV because they don't need you in here. They show you live on TV because they don't want you to come in here. They show you on TV because your leaders don't respect and don't protect you. They show you on TV because you are the shame of the continental America. They show you on TV just to tell you that you are black, poor, uneducated, and most of all you have no future as a nation. I accept for them to show us on TV if they want to do that for the only reason this is nothing compared to what our own government have been doing to humiliate us. These people who are on TV everywhere (even in Los Angeles) are the true "image" of Haiti; more that 80% of Haitians are like them.
Make no mistake, more than 1/2 of the people in Haiti actually would feel lucky if they can make it up to the shore and dream for a even a minute. There is nothing for them to dream of in Haiti. Remember, there are actually 3 categories of people in Haiti these days:
a. Those who can not make it to anywhere else
b. Those who are drug dealers or who are making a lot of money by doing politics.
c. And those who chose not to come to the USA because it is too late (They are in their 50s) or they have a job in the public administration and they are working very hard to earn their "pension).
There are almost no valuable young people in Haiti. Almost all of them are either in Canada or in the USA. Those who are still in Haiti are looking for ways to make it out of the country.
All I can say is that we should help those who made it here find their ways out of jail and to start a new life. Also, we need to tell everybody who are in Haiti and who don't have any future to take their chances by hitting the sea. Go ahead my people, save yourself by taking the SEA if it is the only way for you expect to survive. Come to the USA by any means. Don't be ashamed. Most of the Haitian in here came either by the sea or by plane with a "Visitor Visas" and therefore are in the same situation than you are when they started.
Kariz,
There is one thing we can do. We can try to find out when they are coming and take our friends and our family with us and go to the shore with trucks and other means of transportation to help them realize their long time dream.
