2nd Annual HAITI Tourism and Economic Development Summit
Friday, June 23, 2006
City: Miami Beach
Location: Deauville Beach Resort
Description
Dear Colleagues:
It is with pleasure that MWM & Associates invites you to this year?s ?Second Annual Haiti Tourism & Economic Development Summit? to be held at the Deauville Beach Resort, 6701 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida on June 23-25, 2006.
The main goal of this Summit is to strategize in rebuilding the Tourism Industry of Haiti. We must counteract negative images of Haiti and minimize the impact it has on the present situation of the tourism industry in Haiti. By increasing tourist arrivals, it will positively impact Haiti?s economy by facilitating the flow of currency and creating local jobs, just as it has in other Caribbean islands in the region.
Last year?s event hosted over 500 professionals, over 30 speakers, exhibit booths and major networking opportunities. Summit results have included: monthly ToHaiti.com Getaway groups to Haiti, U.S. and Canada city-by-city tourism forums, feasibility studies conducted by potential hotel chains, sponsored media partnerships, national Haiti tourism associates, University and College Haitian American student spring break partnerships, technical assistance planned by FAVACA and many other positive outcomes.
This year's collaborating partners and invited speakers include the Caribbean-Central American Action (CCAA), Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), International Financial Corp. (IFC), Inter-American Investment Corp (IIC), VISIT FLORIDA, Greater Miami & Beaches Visitors and Convention Bureau, Tourism Association of Haiti, Florida Association of Volunteer Association for Caribbean Action (FAVACA), USAID-Haiti, Caribbean Tourism Organization, Caribbean Hotel Association, Haiti Research Development Foundation, Association of Haitian Banks, Island Television, the new government of Haiti, Consul Generals of Haiti in Miami, Chicago and New York, Embassy of Haiti in Washington, DC, in addition to, major Haitian-American organizations nationwide.
We are expecting over 800 participants to attend this year?s Summit. This Summit not only motivates the vast number of Haitian diaspora to strategize in the rebuilding of Haiti through tourism, but also to facilitate a platform for economic development dialogue in the states.
MWM & Associates have been very busy since last year's successful summit. As Haiti seeks to overcome its current infrastructure weaknesses, we, in partnership with Haiti's tourism industry, are strategizing to target the ready-made market of Haitian-American Diaspora in the US and Canada to visit and invest in their homeland. This Summit will serve as a platform to bring together as many key players as possible who are involved in rebuilding Haiti's tourism industry. We have already placed a billboard in Miami on I-95 and on Sunrise Blvd in Ft. Lauderdale to begin counteracting the negative publicity that Haiti receives which effectively discourages visitors and investors.
For your convenience, please download a registration form and contact us via e-mail at info@ToHaiti.com or call (305) 249-6966, if you should need further information. You may also view photos from last year's successful Summit on our website.
We wish to thank you for your continued support of Haiti and look forward to your participation this summer when we bring our secret paradise, Haiti, to beautiful Miami Beach.
