DR and Haiti united in a solidarity encounter
DAJABON.RD.- Authorities form Haiti and the Dominican Republic headed the first women Dominican-Haitian encounter yesterday.
The encounter?s purpose was to strengthen ties between both countries.
Luz de Castro, the movement?s coordinator, a pastor from the Misionera Church, said they decided to put both countries fraternity into God?s hands.
At least two thousand 500 women from Haiti and Dominican Republic concentrated in Dajabón?s multipurpose market, carrying both nations flags, signaling their desire to face together a series of evils that go from poverty to violence.
"This activity?s intention is to create friendship, forgetting the antagonism from the past and live the present, like two nations, one next to the other", expressed Manuel Estrella, Dominican-Haitian dialogue coordinator.
The United Nations posted light tanks in the Haitian side of the border, to protect from armed groups that tried to prevent Haitians passage to participate in the get together.
