Haiti's President Rene Preval has been invited to address the opening ceremony of the 27th meeting of the Caribbean Community scheduled for St Kitts and Nevis from July 3-6.
A release from the Government Information Agency (GINA), said the Heads of Government of Caricom looked forward to Haiti's resumption of its rightful place in the Caricom councils.
The release quoted a Caricom Secretariat press release, which said Caricom welcomed the return of constitutional rule in Haiti and extended congratulations to the Haitians who have shown their commitment to the democratic process.
According to the release, the people of Haiti and the international community deemed the electoral process as free and fair. The Senate and Lower House have recently ratified the candidacy of Jacques Edouard Alexis as Prime Minister designated by President Preval.
The GINA release said Caricom is also looking forward to the election of local and municipal representatives.
The Community noted Haiti's return to constitutional rule after the interruption of the democratic process on February 29, 2004.
