Jamaica: Gun seized after funeral possession shoot out linked to Haitian police
Mon Feb 5, 2007
A gun which was taken from a man who was fatally shot by the police during a funeral procession in St. Catherine Sunday is being linked to the Police Force in Haiti.
The weapon was reportedly stolen from a member of the police force in Haiti.
The incident in which the gun was seized took place along St. Johns Road about 3 o'clock in the afternoon when a man reportedly opened fire at a police party which attempted to carry out a search.
The Constabulary Communication Network Metro Officer, Inspector Steve Brown says this strengthens the police's theory about the guns for drugs trade between Jamaica and Haiti.
The man who remains unidentified is said to be from Seaview Gardens in the Corporate Area.
The mourners were attending the funeral of Julian Powell also called "Sandocando" who was shot and killed by the police in Kingston recently.
