Freed Pastor Describes Kidnap Ordeal In Haiti
(AP) FAIRFAX, Va. The Haitian-American pastor who was held for ransom last week in Haiti says he forgave his captors while they were beating him, and urged them to give their lives to God.
The Reverend Nathan Dieudonne (dee-oo-DAHN?-ay) was released last Friday, five days after being kidnapped by an armed gang on his way home from the Haitian church he?s pastored for 27 years.
Dieudonne described his ordeal during a Sunday service at his wife?s home church in Virginia.
He said he was beaten until he thought he couldn?t take anymore, but cried out to Jesus and said, ?Father, forgive them; they don?t know what they?re doing.?
Dieudonne says his captors claimed to have killed many people, but he told them that his life?and theirs?were in God?s hands, and that Jesus would forgive them if they repented.
