Haitian Senator Highlights Cuba's Assistance in Renewable Energy Sector

Haiti's Senator Maxime Roumer thanked Cuba for its asssistance to his country's development of new renewable energy sources.
In statements to AIN in this central eastern Cuban city, the visiting Haitian senator said that the Cuban Society for the Promotion of Renewable Energy Sources and Environmental Respect, Cubasolar, and Haiti's Grand'Anse association have strengthened relations aimed at implementing Cuba's experiences in his country.
Roumer, who heads Grand Anse, is attending an international workshop on energy, environment and sustainable development underway in Ciego de
Avila.
He assured that many people and organizations in his country are interested in making good use of and protecting natural sources, as a way to improve the people´s quality of life.
The Haitian senator highlighted explained that there are many mountains in his country with summits of up to 2, 400 meters high, which constitute a major source of forest biomass. He also noted the country's potential to develop the hydroelectric plants.
¨We believe that the Cuban experience will also contribute to lowering contamination levels with the treatment of residuals, the use of wind-based energy and the production of biogas,¨ said Roumer.
