news American Airlines reduces flights to Haiti

(Associated Press) American Airlines is reducing flights to and from Haiti, citing seasonal patterns in travel to the Caribbean nation.
American said that beginning Wednesday, it will cancel one of two daily nonstops between New York´s Kennedy Airport and Port-au-Prince.
On July 15, the airline will cancel one of its four flights between Miami and Port-au-Prince, and cancel another on Aug. 23.
The airline also flies between Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Haiti.
An airline spokeswoman said security was not a factor in the schedule changes, which she described as seasonal.
Early last year, American suspended flights from New York and Miami to Haiti for about a week because of violence in Haiti, which made it difficult for the airline´s local employees to report for work.
American, the nation´s largest airline, is a unit of Fort Worth-based AMR Corp.
