Angry

Lavalas has performed minor improvements such as the alphabetization project, the building of schools and roads and other health projects aided by the Cubans. As far as the convergance is concerned, I dont think they can answer any of your questions.

It could be that the drug trafficking is due to the freezing of AID and/or the lingering effects of the embargo, but this is not certain. As far as murder is concerned, who is to say that the convergance wont be any worse. They have shown this in the past. I think that money laundering might include most of the islands in the caribbean. Let's face it they are having problems paying their bills down there.

The people who are accusing the Lavalas of murder, are the same people who were aiding and abetting the junta when 5000 people were being brutally murdered during the coup.
Lavalas is surely wanting, but goddam they are surely preferable to those who are allying themselves with the international maffia,to starve the haitian people into submission.

You are right. Despite a few arrest and the disarmament of a few people, nothing has really been done to render justice to the 5000 victims of the 1991 or the 1987 coups. The international community turns a blind eye and a deaf ear to these events and would rather concentrate on high profile cases such as the Jean Dominique and Brignol cases. If only there was an international judge, one who was not biased, racist, or corrupt and only concerned with his own self interest, maybe then this crisis might be finally solved. Unfortunately that is not the case. Therefore the Haitian people as well as the Lavalas government are at the mercy of the "maffia". I dont know if you read this article:

I bet you the same people who are accusing the lavalas of murder are the same ones who, when they had their chances of power, created "the Ninjas". Also when they had it, can anyone tell me what they did? How many banks opened their doors? how many jobs were created? how much money did they invest in the country and the people? how many hospitals, schools were built? I can go on and on.

Between a rock and a hard place?

I am quite surprised to see you open a dialogue with such a vicious "ad hominem" attack.
Should I begin with a reference to this american piece of wisdom: two wrongs don't make a right?
Murder, under Aristide or anyone else is just that: murder. Inexcusable in our civilized world.
If my recollection is good, the "ninjas" were around during Mr. Aristide's Washington exile. Well, it was also a time during which the poorest country of our hemisphere was burdened with an international economic embargo, called for by its President and his close advisers. Is it then strange that during such a period of economic oppression, the country experienced negative growth?
Yet, in lieu of the "cooperative" racket currently in full swing in Haiti, that period did produce a major bank (UNIBANK), a healthy institution that is still growing strong. Should I believe that during the "ninja" period, Haitian entrepreneurs, although burdened by an embargo, showed more interest in institution building than in racketeering?
With respect to the murders you alluded to, it is now widely accepted by students of Haitian politics, that they were generally being committed or staged by those who stood to benefit substantially from their occurences. Do you care to guess?

Yeah Parnou,
Thanks to you,we got it straight. The 10000 murders during the Pinochet dictatorship were commited by the partisans of Salvador Allemde. The 20000 disappearances in Argentina ,during the 70s were deeds of the opponents of the junta.
Oh yes,Aristide's partisans commited ,most of the 5000 killings during the coup.
Ah!Ah!Ah.....................................Ah!
