Dear Fellow citizens
I am seizing the opportunity to congratulate both of you and sincerely for having the courage to stand for change, only history will decide on the rewards you really deserve.
Our society having not been exposed so intensely in the last decades to the winds of change, many alert citizens are now rightfully wondering today if emotions and inflexibility are not frustrating your efforts for change.
Your convictions and the respective political philosophy which both of you are preaching should galvanize the consciousness of the people and benefit the nation which after a popular revolution that took place 200 years ago deserve today to be fully emancipated.
Your efforts should be collectively focused on the eradication of Neocolonialism which has been ravaging the well being of the nation and which has been promoting fatricidal wars. The last events speak for themselves.
As you both may have realized now, your performances have not fostered a peaceful environment for open civic participation of the citizen, you have not succeeded in curbing polarization which is the mandate that the people expect you to fulfill by your opposition, instead polarization is widening.
Some people are confused by the way you choose to deliver your patriotism and civic performances as speakers of the established Government and the United opposition. I dare say today that your last performances had produced the regrettable events which are affecting poor and rich, Illiterate and educated who make up the nation.
Let me remind you honorable citizens that you are adversaries with a mission to unite the country for prosperity and Collective Emancipation not enemies whose leadership is to inspire or incite division, polarization , assassinations and destruction which are perpetuating the misery of the brave people of the nation. You must succeed with the people without distinction of class, this is what leadership means gentlemen,This is what Haiti needs now honorable citizens.
Being adversaries should have been beneficial for the country but it is not, meanwhile being enemies is a devastating situation which can only benefit Neocolonialism against the Collective Emancipation of the nation.
As a citizen, I invite the two of you in the name of all haitians to jointly and publicly denounce violence, to put an halt to your status of Ennemies in order to put an halt to the plagues of violence and death and to accept with loftiness a nationally televised debate at which you will articulate the respective political programs and "Projets de société" of your different parties to defend your political philosophy and convictions, to show to the people the major differences between Lavalasse and Convergence and the reasons they should support one or the other,I entreat you honorable citizens to pursue an healthy democratic environnement in order to reduce and hopefully eliminate the phobias and psychosis which are now reminiscent of the years of dictatorship. Gentlemen,You must demonstrate Mutual respect to inspire the nation and for the the citizens of the nation to follow your lead and for them to get involved with the shaping of their destiny as a nation without hate and without assasinations.A house divided, a nation divided ,a kingdom divided cannot stand
The people as a nation must not be subject to your emotions and inflexibility. They must have a chance to recognize what will be good for them to do collectively in order to protect their collective interests.
You must annihilate the occult characteristic of your confrontation which is highly sterile by transforming your patriotism into practical democracy in order to reassure the nation, You have a duty to teach the more oppressed victims of neocolonialism.Your exemplary behavior and demonstration of Unity will help the eradication of fratricidal wars and the destabilising pustches which are frustrating the economic development of the nation as well as its Collective Emancipation.
Please citizens, demonstrate leadership and patriotism through grace, compassion, loftiness, discipline, flexibility and also by showing your common understanding of the international conjuncture as leaders.
Haiti will be grateful and History will elevate you.
In Hoping that my appeal will be heard with patriotic ears
I leave you both with my highest patriotic consideration.
Be assured of the truthfulness behind my efforts.
JOYEUX NOEL, Messieurs.
We are watching.
Sincerely yours
Haiti Now
It is judgement time. You shall be judged by the universal truth no matter where you stand.

| | | That was very well said.
Though, I keep wondering what would happen if the two gentlemen to whom the letter is addressed, decided to heed your advice. What would JBA and the chimères do? | |

| | | Jacoba
We can only do our best. I believe that your level of patriotism is not less than mine nor is mine higher than yours.Japan was brought to its knees so was Germany.Look into that my brother.
If Conrad Adenauer did not rest on the great collective values of Germany, it would have been impossible for Helmut Kohl to take the lead with Miterrand to create the European Union and the Euro currency.
We made a revolution which had made us earn a particular status in the world of civilized nations but we also miss the train to Prosperity and Emancipation because we do not apply the truth behind our motto: L'Union fait la Force.
Principles, Discipline,Courage, Compassion, Loftiness and a spirit of grandeur for Unity are required to achieve the leadership Haiti needs for its Collective Emancipation and its prosperity.Let us try to inspire them as much as we can with loftiness and honesty.
Je vous embrasse patriotiquement Jacoba.

To the special attention of Citizen Jacoba
Dear Compatriots
I have reflected at length on the question of Citizen Jacoba and decided that an answer could elevate the debate and perhaps inspire all the participants and readers.
Compatriot Jacoba, this is what I have gathered after a relatively long cogitation:
If those two honorable citizens decide to heed my civic request how would you suggest the panel to be formed and on what criteria the moderators should be selected ? what kind of mutual guarantees would be needed besides the absolute refraining from using personal attacks by both parties and intimidation by the Lavalasse OP's and the Convergence threatening bands?
Citizens, I sincerely believe that "when there is a will there is a way". If this event cannot be organized because of Mistrust, lack of discipline and Hate, we must as a people and free citizens of the nation intervene to demand that the people be served in priority by elected able and moral servants who respect them and who can demonstrate that respect by replacing the stand off by immediate productive and transparent dialogues. Meanwhile the opposition must allow the interests of the majority to prevail by proposing and demonstrating the socio-economic pattern which can be complementary or which is better than the one proposed by the established Government which also in turn must complement or accept what would represent best the needs of the nation now!.It must be a bipartisan team work not the unilateral decision of a group. When there is a will there is a way.
I personally believe that Collective Emancipation through Education and Social Justice must be parallely sought by a bipartisan team with a plan for long term Economic prosperity which guarantees upward socio-economic mobility in the findings of all the protagonists.
The new haitian model of society must draw its strength from the particularities which imaginative and pragmatic haitian experts in Economy will prescribe to suit the conjuncture but not a copycat of the U.S.socio-economic pattern which will not guarantee a decent pattern of progressive evolution and Collective Emancipation in our case.It is obvious that we must adapt to the international Conjuncture but we cannot annihilate our sources, our collective genius and national aspirations. We must not be inflexible but we must be alert. The government in turn must make sure that the rights of the people and their access to an acceptable level of education which secures access to all opportunities by all citizens be absolutely respected as well as a decent health plan .
Citizens, there is nothing new about this prescription nor is it a personal invention or discovery, it is absolute logic based on the socioeconomic trends of the first world and the right of a sovereignty to preserve its identity and the cultural interests of its people. It is the law of interdependence . The capital and management have been identified, therefore we need to provide guarantees to the donors , lenders and financial institutions by demonstrating the respect of the principles agreed upon for a productive collaboration between Haitians first and subsequently with the foreign institutions which obviously are aiming sustained regional development to fit their global aims. Know how is available, Labor is available although it is going to require more adequate training to be competitive over time, nevertheless this is absolutely possible and can be reached within a relatively decent period of time.I trust that we are not short of competencies but we need primarily good will to cooperate for national collective success and Collective Emancipation, we need also good faith, "humility" and flexibility to allow unity to take roots. In Danemark I came to learn by observing and researching that the national philosophy is: No one is better than the other until he refuses to take advantages of the same opportunities. Luther, the protestant leader also reminds us that absolutely Everyone should be able to read the Bible.I stand unequivocally against Neocolonialism after reviewing my national history and after I visited Bahia and Sao Paulo in Brasil. It is an absolute shame to let this go on, it is unacceptable to continue tolerate this insulting, inhumane state of affairs. Haiti just as Brazil need more than theoretical democracy. They both need absolute changes.Education, Health and Opportunities for all.
Neocolonialism must be done with now!.
If the automobile industry is present in Brazil with a population of 165.000000 of which 40 percent are illiterate, it can also come to Haiti while we are educating our mighty labor and developing the Agricultural, Service and Tourist sectors.I believe sincerely citizens that the educated force of the diaspora can participate productively and marvel the world if the right conditions are met.
What are the right conditions besides incentives and guaranteed security from a state of law?
Citizens, Haitians can certainly do marvels and duplicate what they have done on the Brooklyn Bridge by working together for Economic progress and Collective Emancipation.I was not there but I feel exalted about that episode.
I hope very much that we can also take advantage of the lessons learned by successful countries in methods of taxation and the enforcement of the laws pertaining to this aspect to combat Corruption, Fraud and Embezzlement. We cannot follow the footsteps of Argentina .So what is missing?
I dare say that we are missing good will as well as greater respect and compassion for the suffering people. How can we reverse that?
I personally believe that the people must intervene now but without machettes, mitraillettes, guns and "Kaoutchou" to annihilate the covet characteristic of those sterile negotiations and replace them by an overt participation of new representatives of the people in future meetings. Are we not working for the people?
Well if some representatives fail we must bring new ones to work with the able and flexible to secure results this time.We deserve that and we have the right to demand that it is done for collective interests since some rather kill and destroy. No party or citizen should have the monopoly on managing our destiny. The government therefore must guarantee a peaceful democratic meeting with maximum security for all by calling off its militia just as the Convergence must call off its bands from the streets. They must reach a protocol now to include new participants in the next negotiations! We are tired of the covet and occult characteristic of the negotiations. The people did not intervene when Kaballistic considerations were evoked for a meeting at the MUPHANA, yet nothing was explained to them. Today they have the right to ask for greater participation in all further meetings. They want meeting without kabbales but with their participation since the previous negotiations failed to bring satisfactory results with the 19 month old panel of representatives. They failed, yes they failed.
November 1803 gave us the status of a great civilized and capable nation , lover of freedom and uncompromising when it comes to its dignity. If the international press could understand that they would be more careful of their choice of words and would support our unity but I must say that we allow this to happen. It is therefore time for rectification. I invite the parties , once again to jointly condemn violence and assassinations and to announce jointly a new era of cooperation for National Unity through their speakers with determination and dignity.Undo that shame please! If you cannot do it you cannot represent the great values of 1803. Engage yourself to make sure it never happens again. Please do not wait for Carnival, distribute the fanions of reconciliation now!
Where is that haitian grandeur?where is our heroic haitian character?
Only cowards kill their own while waltzing, eating and drinking with aliens.
The job of the government in this enterprise is to secure that the rights and the well being of the people are secured, that the people and the government are not cheated, that the collective dignity of the people is revived, that the life of each citizen is protected and that exclusion is dismantled through socio-economic progress. The rest is none of its business.Let the experts, the experienced, the talented and the more able do the work with conscience and responsibility.Let the legislators articulate the protective rights of the people.
The people must speak now!
It is not about Lavalasse and Convergence Democratique, it is about the people,YOU, Me, Them, they are the priority, they are the nation, you are their servants in whom they have entrusted the highest honor to represent their aspirations, hope and suffering. A nation cannot exist without the collective ressources and the national dignity of its people ,it will not last without respect for all. A country divided cannot stand so what are we waiting for?
Citizens , I await your intervention just as the intervention of all participants in a bipartisan spirit to inspire the elected servants and the opposition correctly, pragmatically, democratically "with civility and civically".Thanks for the opportunity. I have not voted yet in my country, you all know why. Let us save the meager advances for all of us to be able to vote next time with conscience and responsibility.Unity and Pluralism now!Long live the collective haitian conciousness and the unalienable rights of all haitian citizens without discrimination.Long live meritocracy and down with Social Exclusion.
It is judgement time, you will be juged by the universal truth no matter where you stand. It is past time for haitian Unity.
We are watching.

| | | Having been specially addressed, I will try to muster the courage to post an answer, but, dear Haitinow! believe me when I say that I have grown weary of reading the venom that is spread everyday by the government partisans and fanatics on these forums.
I appreciate your will to elevate the debate. To do so requires objectivity and clear thinking, just like in business. To succeed in business, one must be always putting everything in question. I dare say that in life, as well as in politics, one must always be putting everything in question. One must do so for one's own good.
If I am going to contribute anything to the debate you are trying to hold in favor of progress in Haiti, if the debate must be elevated, one must be allowed to put things in question, even if it is the good will of the party in power, and not receive a flurry of insults and be accused of all sorts of sins and deviations.
As a matter of fact, from my vantage point in Haiti, maybe I am too close to the action (you see how I even question myself), I put in serious question the good will of the party in power. The party in power either has no vision or has no will to carry the vision. Or their vision is lopsided. If somebody can prove me wrong, I will gladly listen to or rather read the arguments to the contrary of my statement.
I am perfectly willing to participate in a "Mastermind alliance" on this forum, with the objective of developing some clear thinking about our country. I just want the exchanges to be done with civility and grace. I would like to read more about the future and what Haitians can do for Haiti and less about the past, less about what has been done to us, less about colonialism, less about racism, less about imperialism or whatever that means.
Can we talk more about opportunities for Haiti, more about the huge potential that lays dormant in Haiti's youth, more about some of the good things that are going on in Haiti, in spite of the government's awful performance, more about the potential for progress, more about the possibility of short-circuiting our backwardness in most everything. Don't forget that we are also very creative, I am sure we can create a very unique kind of society if we work real good on it.
These days haitians living abroad are flocking to Haiti, six or more full planes land everyday during this holiday seasons. We in Haiti are interested in that. It means livelyhood for us. It means our families are visiting us and we love it. Yes, they bring us money, turkey and ham, and in return we give our warmth, our smiles, our gentillesse, we try like hell to keep them out of harm's way we take them to visit the "Mornes". Yes, I know there is too much garbage in the streets, too many traffic jams, but what can we do, we still haven't managed to get good government, we are working on it.
So, you see, that was my kind of patriotism. It is not complicated. I have no great theories on politics or development. I don't know much about history, don't know much about politics. But when I see a government screwing up a whole country because nobody in that government has the courage to tell the leader that he is completely nuts and out of wack, I feel it in my gut and I scream.
So Good Luck HaitiNow, how about calling yourself HaitiTomorrow.
A bientôt! | |

A mastermind alliance sounds good. The job is to conquer the participation of the minds before the minds can agree to an alliance. This must be indeed the absolute prerequisite.
Very frankly, I think we must go beyond patriotism to achieve this task . It requires self discipline, Humility, objectivity ,Mutual respect and the great Collective values we share.Whoever can achieve that in these difficult circumstances can revive the spirit of 1803 just as France, just as the United States, Just as Japan, just as Germany and all the great countries. Let us dare believe in the Sublime again.
To all of you who believe in collective Emancipation, Long term National Prosperity, True Patriotism, the success of Our Collective Genius , Mutual Respect , Victory over Social Exclusion and Ignorance, let January- 1- 2002 mark the day of your availability and committement to start this work of courage and love for the nation. The nation is dear Haitian citizens all the people of the land.
Please Remember that Compassion and Tolerance are not virtues found on the stock market and that no nation can be built on arrogance and violence.
Remember also that a country divided, a people divided, a kingdom divided, a family divided cannot stand. To all the political Theoricians, partisans or adversaries, please refrain from using the old chorus of the Magnificat. Let us start a Gospel with this new song we are now composing.
It is well known among haitians that the saying "Ki sam pa ka fè la" is synonymous of defiance, destruction, putsches, intolerance, assassinations, personal attacks, arrogance, betrayals, disrespect, lack of civility and breach of principles. As a haitian I have allowed myself to be exposed to it theoretically to better understand myself and the ones who swear by it.I believe that some of us have been in the battlefield of haitian politics and know of it, I have not, I have seen it but I never participated in it therefore I ask them to bring their wisdom to the forums with grace for mutual success and to build this alliance for collective success.
The wise also know that Haiti is among the countries in which success is a curse rather than a subject for celebration, it is indeed a deviation, therefore use subtleties always but surpass yourself to bring that stone to the reconstruction of these majestic ruins.
To those who have had the courage to accept abuses and still continue to respond, to share, to enlighten with humility, with tolerance, forgiveness, Patriotism and perseverance , I have no need to advise you. I admire your truthfulness and Dignity. I do not promise sanctity if I receive personal attacks but I guarantee my truthful collaboration and unconditional respect to those who apply the necessary principles we all need to maintain between us in order to overcome mediocrity, vileness, shalowness and sterility.
I trust that many would like to build this alliance, but not all of them know that moral efforts and loftiness are prerequisites to achieve this construction.I may sound as an idealist for some but let me reassure everyone that I am indeed an idealist but a pragmatic one. I promise to do my utmost best to challenge the pessimism of Jacoba with humility objectivity , perseverance, impartiality and solidarity because We need to build this new Haiti Now and together! Jacoba , Please do not resign.
Yes it is nation building.Work, vision, collaboration and discipline are paramount. Our Job is to support what is good and prosperous for us collectively and to fight sectarianism, exclusion, incompetencies , corruption, fraud, embezzlement, illegality, brutality and mystification. We must demand guarantees and demonstrations to all elected. We must be the voices of the dumb, the ears of the deaf and the legs of the crippled.
Thank you for the opportunity
Mèsi anpil.
