I loved Jack. I also loved Krissie and Jeannette. But I loved Jack more.
I loved his way of letting Mr. Rupper believe he was gay, while he was
dating all of these women; so many of them...
I was not his only fan for sure, since John Ritter won an Emmy for the
role. And, John did something ever more remarkable: He is one the very
rare comedians to make a come-back at prime time. Successfully that is, in
ABC's My Teenage Daughter.
This morning John Ritter died. So did Charles Bronson (another idol of my
earlier years) two weeks ago. So did Gregory Hines, handsome and
distinguished Mr Hines, last month.
Do you know who is next?
If I were you, I would, from now on, eat my vegetables, take my vitamins,
reconcile with my ex-best friend, stop all sinful sexual activities,
establish a direct line of communication with God, devest from the stock
market, write my will, update my insurance policies, and let all my
friends and relatives know where I want to be buried, or who should
inherit from my ashes.
I am telling you: You are next....
