This was Tuesday, last day of carnaval.
From 7:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m, Barbarossa with its thousands of
masquareders paraded in the streets of Port-of-Spain. Fun, fun, fun.
The costumes and the vitality of the different sections were graded at
five judging points. Useless to explain how much the Dream Team Gladiators
(in all-red costumes) screamed and gyrated, with charm and elegance
(mmm!), to bring some additional points to the Nemesis section.
But, beyond the judging points, the fun was the wine-wine thing. Wining
is the kind of dance in which your partner brings her posterior to your
crotch, which triggers the organs in contact to get into a forceful
grinding motion. Do you see what I mean? It is fun. You can try this at
home, under supervision.
At 4:00 p.m., I partied out. These uniforms were kind of too much
clothing to wear for too long. So I left for the pool. Most of my Dream
Teammates completed the circuit with laudable stamina.
At night, I wanted to join the last lap at Saint James. Last Lap is a
popular dance party given by the all the bands, for everyone who could not
make it to the parties and to the parade. It also marks the end of
carnival.
Saint James is one-hour walk from the Hilton. Forget about taxi service,
the city was much too crowded, and taxi drivers were in the parade playing
mas. Therefore, I passed.
Carnaval is over. Long live to carnaval.
