Being raised in a catholic faith, I had never given a thought to Voodoo since he is known as the "Devil's Religion" associated with all kind of negativities. Today I have another perception of Voodoo without losing my faith in Christainity. My perception has changed following a class I took in college where I had the opportunity to better understand Voodoo and the role it has played in our history as black people and more precisely as Haitians.

Today, I understand that Voodoo is not only the opposite of Christianity, it is also a part of the heritage leaving by our ancestors. Our ancestors used it in order to keep a bond between them and their homeland (Africa), they used it to have that kind of control over their lives while they were enslaved by the colons. There is report that when they had to be shipped to some other location (other island) away from their family, they used Voodoo or spell to make their master change their mind as a result they stay together. Voodoo is what they used to get their independence.
I also realized that it is OK to know about voodoo it does not make me the child of the devil but it is a new knowledge in my everyday life.
