Lightbulb Zo Wa Croke Nan Goj Yo

It was delightful to read about the group 184 entrepreneurship a couple of years ago. They went around the countryside of Haiti. They talk to the farmers about their shortcomings. They make promises to remedy their situation. They talked to the countryside residents about what need to be done and what their government failed to do. I really said to myself that finally someone care about the country then. Never mind the fact that they all belong to the upper class of the country and the fact that their monopoly of all commerce killed the food production of these same farmers forced to migrate to an overcrowded Port-au Prince.
Well now the real intention is obvious. They wanted to take over the government. Funded by outside sources, they formed many branches under different names. The result is Guy Philip who thought he was going to be their choice candidate. Guy did not expect a Henry Baker. The 184 believed they could buy the presidential seat.
The New York Times article of January 24, 2006 quotes a member of the UN in Haiti who chooses to be anonymous: Rene Preval candidature was unexpected and creates a situation with no solution. Could that be the real reason why they cannot have a definite date for the elections?
I read today that Apad and Boulos, the bourgeois, want the police to investigate the source of menaces on the life of Preval. Pa gin la fimin san dife. The logic of Haiti?s politics since its birth does let us see this elimination of Preval as the best way for 184 to succeed. The reason being that Preval, even though is not representing Lavalas in this election, is definitely going to get that party votes. Why should the habitants of Cite Soleil be forced to come out of their neighborhood to vote? A voting block of that magnitude sure gives advantage to Preval.
My view of a successful Haiti is Preval as president to continue the agronomical development he started that the upper class sees as an encumbrance. Simeus as Premier Ministre to bring his world business knowledge to attract some of the outsourcing that so many Asian country as benefiting of, to create an infrastructure where transparence is a norm. I will let you know of the choice for the phantom secret police that includes doctors, accountants, social service workers and all to insure the death of corruption in the country.

Kroke tankou yon zo nan !

grinnn As a concerned Hatian I agree to your statement. I travel to Haiti quite often. Last November as I was near Archaie, I assisted (incognito) at The Nouveau Contract Social meeting organized by the group 184. I've also did some personal survey like a political poll. At that time, Simeus was the only candidate the Haitian Population would trust at the Presidency. Simple reason : They say he already got money and won't steal as usual. After Dec.9,2005 ( Arret Presidentiel ) to disqualify him in the race, Preval was winning by 32 % of the Intentions of the votes with Simeus at 21 %. Thus your statement stands firm !
Patriotically, Lionel
