Question Trees in Haiti

Hi,
I am studying Haitian perceptions of current or potential reforestation efforts of Haiti (from funding outside of Haiti).
Do you think reforestation is a priority in Haiti?
I am interested in all your views about reforestation-- negative or positive.
I am interested in hearing from Haitians inside and outside of Haiti.
Please let me know the country which you currently live, and the name of the community in Haiti you are most familiar with. If you or your family lives in Haiti, how do you/they make their living, and how would reforestation efforts in their community help or harm them?
If you are pro-reforestation, what trees would be most beneficial? Crop trees (Coffee, Mango)? Timber trees? Or other.
If you are not comfortable writing in English, please respond in any language. You can post directly to this message or send me an e-mail through this site or at cjbgator@tampabay.rr.com.
I greatly appreciate your time in responding,
Casey

Hi Casey,
I was born and raised in Haiti and is currently live in New York. When i was in Haiti I was living in port au prince. I do believe that reforestation will be one of the big step toward progress because once upon a time the Haitian economy was primarily depended on agriculture. reforestation of the country will streghten its economical status as a result food will be less expansive and hopefully Haiti will be opened back to international trade (exportation). I believe that reforstation would be a very good asset to my country.
thanks for your concern Casey
