TiCam, in my opinion the euphoria will soon calm down once that potential investors will face the dreaded reality of Haiti: Miseries to obtain a simple phone line, the ridiculously abusive and arbitrary bureaucracy, the corrupted 'douanes' and etc, etc...
Before any surge in business were to occur, you would need a gigantic cleanup. Don't forget also that the guy with the real money to invest is above average. He will certainly weight in the historical factor of that country before risking a penny in there.
If a boom were to happen, it will be after 5 years of straight political normalcy, which is too much for Haitians to deliver.

Don't you have to invest before the boom?

Listen, I have created this post and I do not allow people to use any vulgar language there. Create your own post and say whatever you want to, please, not in mine. Have some respect for others, protocole demands it.

Dr. Newry stressed that he does not support Haitians ? or anyone for that matter ? living in The Bahamas illegally.
But, he said, "We also have to be realistic. If you took suddenly every illegal worker out of The Bahamas, you?d have some serious economic problems."

Haitian are hardworker they want to work but in haiti there is nothing to do
even they are illegal in Bahamas DR. NEWRY know they participate in the economic of the country . I think that will be good if they do business in Haiti

Well, all who did in the past have been so sorry and were forced to leave everything behind. Unfortunately, I must be cautious also. I want to see 5 years of stability first.
But as you saw, given the reaction of some in what is a very simple and straightforward post, 51% of the country is made of such uncivilized animals. How can one invest in such an atmosphere. Sadly that kind of reaction is typical of the inhabitants of that country. They see the businessmen as the enemy. It's like it is a sin to make money, and they expect you to spend it doing the government job, while the government fills in it's pocket.
And after the plundering and their failure, they blame it on the bourgeois, the businessmen. They manipulate the ignorant masses into believing that, in order to save their skin. And you have the 'aigri' who come in the forums to start insulting.
Perhaps you will see a wave of small businesses, but they will be very small. The real money will come only when there is stability.

I agree with you there, I do believe business will start small. The investors will be very cautious, but they will come ultimately.

So is my wish for Haiti. It has been so since 1986 when I was part of what I thought would have been a boom. But... WHEN is that 'ultimately'?
