Its the fifth anniversary of September 11, 2001, how are you feeling?
For me its a long time 5 years, and I feel in many ways New York is a very different city than it was 5 years ago, and our relationship to what happened that day has been changed in year after year. Nearly all of us are immigrants from someplace. We all left home because we believed it would be better, or more interesting, or more exciting, or more lucrative, or more fun here than it was somewhere else.
But now in New York, we feel very vulnerable and the government has imposed new security measures, some of which are appropriate and some of which are not. Nevertheless, New York is still the center of the world in all points of view. I love New York!
