Description: CHIEF OF PARTY, WATERSHEDS PROJECT, HAITI
ARD, Inc. (http://www.ardinc.com) requests expressions of interest from highly qualified Chief of Party (COP) candidates interested in joining ARD's proposed team for an upcoming USAID-funded project in Haiti. The anticipated project will strive to reduce environmental degradation and improve livelihoods in targeted watersheds. Technical focal areas of the project are expected to include: soil and water conservation, sustainable forest management, watershed management, biodiversity conservation, agricultural production, business development and marketing?particularly of environmentally friendly high value fruit tree crops. The project is anticipated to begin in late winter/early spring 2007.
Duties: The Chief of Party will be ARD's team leader and the primary point of contact for USAID on this project, and will provide overall technical and management leadership of the program. S/he will be primarily responsible for completion of all deliverables and ensuring timely reporting to USAID, and for supervising all long-term staff and the activities of short-term consultants.
Qualification:
Qualifications: In addition to a broad knowledge of watershed management strategies, qualifications and experience include: --Advanced degree (minimum M.Sc/M.A., Ph.D. preferred) in watershed management, forestry, agronomy, natural resource economics, or a related field; --Minimum 10 years experience working on international development projects in developing countries; --Minimum 5 years senior management experience, e.g. Project Director/Chief of Party preferably with USAID-funded activities; --Proven ability to lead/motivate a multidisciplinary team under complex conditions; --A track record of highly successful representation and cooperation with host country governments and donor organizations, with superior diplomatic and external relationship skills; --Previous work experience in Haiti; and --Fluent French (minimum S-4/R-4), Haitian Creole highly desirable.
