Mexico defeats Ecuador in friendly; USA held to draw against Guatemala
29.3.07 - Mexico defeated Ecuador by a score of 4:2 in an international friendly at the McAfee Coliseum in Oakland, California USA on Wednesday evening.
A crowd of 47,416 saw Francisco Palencia open the scoring for Mexico in the 29th minute, but Carlos Tenorio tied it for Ecuador just before halftime.
Ecuador took the lead with a goal by Giovanny Espinoza in the 57th minute, but Rafael Márquez leveled for Mexico in the 72nd minute.
Omar Bravo (83rd) and Adolfo Bautista (87th) scored in a span of four minutes for the tricolor in the victory.
Elsewhere on Wednesday, the USA were held to a scoreless draw against visiting Guatemala at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas.
The result ended the stars & stripes’ seven game winning streak on US soil against the chapines.
Guatemala, Mexico and USA are in preparations for the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup™ which will run from 6-24 June.
