SO MUCH DEPENDS ON REPUTATION-GUARD IT WITH YOUR LIFE

Reputation is the cornerstone of power. Through reputation alone you can intimidate and win; once it slips, however, you are vulnerable, and will be attacked on all sides. Make your reputation unassailable. Always be alert to potential attacks and thwart them before they happen. Meanwhile, learn to destroy your enemies by opening holes in their own reputations. Then stand aside and let public opinion hang them.

Pros

Reputation speaks for self. Whether positive or negative. It tells of proven skills or if reputation is started by a rumor from a credible source, the boggy man was brought to life and it can be created to put love or fear in ones heart. Reputation, ultimately will be tested one day, and truth shall speak for its self. Reputation can breed hatred and cause someone hungrier or threatened to test the poker face or test one's heart. If you live on and measure up to the boggy man's theory, and breath air into the reputations lungs, reputations life lives on. If not your character can be destroyed. Ensure that one can live up to their reputation, so that one will not always need to be tested. Reputation can weed out weak opponents, can and will speak for you when no one else will, casting doubts in the on lookers eyes and even ruin one's credibility. Think of the jurors instructions (Beyond a reasonable doubt.) Reputation can force your opponents to have to defend themselves if they have no reputation already established to build on. Reputation can protect you, distract others, give you double the strength, and chase people away. In the end one must work to establish a reputation, whether it be thru generosity, honesty or cunning. A solid reputation increases your presence and exaggerates your strengths without your having to spend much energy. It can created an aura around you that will instill respect, even fear.

Cons

Reputation can ruin your character, constantly get you tested and tried. Reputation if you can not live up to it can get you hurt if you are not prepared to continue to breathe its life or destroy the rumors that you can not live up to. Attempting to ruin one's reputation can be disastrous is you are deemed a liar and slanderous. Ruining one's reputation can create an enemy.
