Christmas. Christmas in America. Christmas once for the majority was a happy time. What happened? Once upon a time, Christmas was for everyone to enjoy. Christmas was once a major family holiday. Now as I look around, I barely see kids outside playing with the new toys they got. I don't know what it is, but maybe due to I guess global warming, there is no snow on the ground where I'm at (in Trenton, New Jersey), when there use to be snow up to my knees. Now, as I drove around last night looking for the most lit up, decorated houses to go show my kids, I barely could find any, let alone the one's that once had Christmas themes. Oh, am I allowed to write the word Christmas. Last I read somewhere, due to the many religions in our country some might find it offensive to have the word "Christ" in Christmas and want us to say XMAS. Merry Xmas. Merry Xmas. Hurrah! . But isn't that a joke. Considering America is known for being the "melting pot" how can anything be offensive. My old motto that I once heard, "Live and Let Live," "Agree to Disagree." Why should someone have to take their decorations at their house or on their lawns down because a person driving by found it offensive? Why shouldn't a person be allowed to say Merry Christmas in the schools or at the work place? Where did it go, freedom of speech, freedom of expression? I know what the law books say I can or cannot do, but why are so many trying to change things. Granted in New Jersey, we are attempting to change the word "idiot" in the Constitution since by definition, an idiot is described as "uneducated or ignorant" verses in the Constitution the word "idiot" was referred to those with mental disabilities, the insane. But Christ in Christmas. Jesus Christ. How were the other religions referring to Christmas before they wanted all this change? They need to just keep calling it what they use to call it, and let us continue calling Christmas, Christmas. Merry Christmas, everyone. May your "Superior" continue to bless and keep you and your family healthy and safe. | |
