Washington, Sept. 29 (CNA) A counselor of the Republic of China Embassy in Haiti died Thursday at a hospital in Port-au-Prince after failing to respond to emergency medical treatment, according to Taiwanese diplomats stationed in the U.S. capital of Washington D.C.
Liu Chia-ning was first diagnosed as having food poisoning, and appeared to have recovered from the upset after undergoing emergency treatment. However, in a few minutes he passed out, and this time doctors were unable to resuscitate him.
According to Liu's colleagues, Liu had previously suffered from heart disease. He was rushed to the hospital after claiming he had a pain in the chest. They doubted Liu had died due to a misdiagnosis.
Liu, 50, formerly served at the ROC Embassy in the Holy See, and was accomplished in the French language.
