Haitian President & Dominican Presidents to meet at the border next Thursday
Santo Domingo. ? Haiti?s president René Préval will be in Dominican territory next Thursday, via the northwest border in Dajabon, where president Leonel Fernandez will receive him.
Luís Peña, of Industry and Commerce, said that Préval?s visit represents a good opportunity for the authorities of both countries, at the highest level, to assume the formal commitment of reactivating the Dominican-Haitian Commission and to create an organism to follow up the bilateral agreements.
He cautioned that Dominican Republic and Haiti are compelled to reach and to implement bilateral accords, especially in the matters of trade and immigration, because otherwise these will be imposed by the international community.
