New News Anchor at WEAR TV in Pensocala (Florida), Haitian-Dominican Francesca Maxime
NEW ANCHOR There's a new face at WEAR. Francesca Maxime, a graduate from Harvard University and a former weekend anchor at WIVT (ABC) in Binghamton, NY, is co-hosting the evening news with local veteran Bob Solarski. Her first broadcast aired earlier this week?and both weather guru Allen Strum and Solarski seem smitten with the anchor-reporter born in Chicago and raised in Massachusetts.
"You have a beautiful name," gushes Solarski on the Monday, Oct. 30 telecast. "And, you're a great reporter," he adds.
Maxime's biography is listed on WEAR's revamped website.
Her news background is extensive. "I've reported and anchored in various Northeast cities including Philadelphia, Boston, Hartford and Syracuse," she comments online. "I've reported live, first-hand, on such national stories as the priest sex abuse/Catholic church scandal, the Beltway sniper shootings and 9/11."
When asked about her family, she writes, "Here in Pensacola, Louisa the cat rounds out my family. Most of the Italian half of my family lives in the Boston area, where my mother is an emergency room physician.
My Haitian-Dominican side of the family lives in Chicago."
Maxime cites entertaining, cooking, fishing and tennis as her interests and adds, "I also enjoy listening to Latin jazz and watching foreign and independent films."
