"Cousines," a new Haitian Movie, premieres at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival this Saturday, November 4, 2006. "Cousines", starring Haitian Hollywood movie star Jimmy Jean-Louis (Phat Girlz, Tears From The Sun), and Haitian movie star Jessica Geneus (Barikad), is produced by Haitian Director and Producer Wilkenson Bruna (Wind Of Desire). It is written and directed by Haitian Filmmaker Richard Senecal (Barikad, I Love You Anne). Jessica Geneus and other actors are flying in from Haiti to attend this grand premiere at the FLIFF.

The movie features Haitian international actor Jimmy Jean-Louis (Phat Girlz, The game of their lives, Tears of the sun, Le président a-t-il le sida...), rising Haitian star Jessica Geneus (Barikad, Le président a-t-il le sida?) as well as newcomers like Soledad Elizabeth Jean, Jerry Lentz Rocher and prestigious guest stars such as Rudolph Moise (Wind of Desire), Roland Dorfeuille "Pyram"(Bouki nan Paradi), Catherine Hubert (Cicatrices, La Face de l'Ombre), Ricardo Lefevre (Piwouli et le zenglendo, La victime, Le president a-t-il le sida?).
'Cousines' is a movie with heart and soul made by the new generation of Haitian filmmakers.
The story is about the hard reality of being young in a troubled country (Jessica Geneus) fighting for survival after the death of her beloved father.
The film is scheduled to play Saturday November 4 at 9:00 p.m.
Best actress Jessica Geneus, Jerry Lentz Rocher, Soledad E. Jean and Handel Dorfeuille will be there to represent Writer/Director Richard Senecal in the Florida premiere of the movie. The theatrical release of the movie was done last September and the film is now in theaters in Haiti.
Now in its 21st year, The Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) will reel out over 200 films from around the globe including one world premiere, five national premieres, and 52 Florida premieres.
Filmmakers and celebrities will attend many of the screenings and events over the 37-day fest, October 14 - November 20.
Parties and gatherings at area "hot spots," on board yachts, and on the beach will provide audiences an opportunity to hob knob with film talent and other movie buffs.
FLIFF has a panel of judges -- consisting of professionals in the film industry to decide which films have what it takes to win top honors.
