Wyclef And Pras Say No Fugees Album Forthcoming
July 19th, 2007 | Author: Omar Burgess
According to former group members Pras Michel and Wyclef Jean, everyone holding on to slim hopes of a Fugees reunion can give it up. When asked about the reunion album, Pras recently told Billboard.com, "To put it nicely, it's dead." Reunion rumors began to surface after the trio briefly reconvened for Dave Chappelle's Block Party. The 2005 release of the single "Take It Easy" marked the first time the group recorded together in roughly nine years. Lauryn, Pras and Wyclef returned to recording as The Fugees with little fanfare last fall, but Pras' resent comments indicate that Hill's eccentricities continue to cause a rift among the group members.
"We went in the studio and recorded a couple of records that were incredible," said Pras. "Me and Clef, we on the same page, but Lauryn [Hill] is in her zone, and I'm fed up with that sh*t. Here she is, blessed with a gift, with the opportunity to rock and give and she's running on some b*llshit? I'm a fan of Lauryn's but I can't respect that."
Instead Pras will focus his efforts on his his upcoming solo album Experience and his Screen Media documentary Skid Row, which opens in limited releases August 24.
Meanwhile, Wyclef plans to release his fifth solo effort Carnival II: Memoirs of An Immigrant, in October. While Jean was less blunt, he seemed to share similar feelings about any potential Fugees reunion while talking with Singapore-based news outlet Mediacorp.com.
"[Lauryn] had some issues she had to deal with," he said. "I hope The Fugees can do another record, I'm giving them four years to get their act together and get it done before I go back to Haiti for good!"
Hill has yet to publicly comment on the stalled reunion efforts. Her most recent work, the single "Lose Myself," is featured on the soundtrack to the animated Sony film Surf's Up.

Wyclef for President

The way it looks, the way rumors are circulating, many believe that Wyclef is preparing to run. Think about it, he's done work in Haiti. (That wins over the people) He's brought affluent Americans to Haiti, and have also worked on their projects. (Which might be to get them to work on his projects) He has a foundation that assists. (That's documented paper trail) And he's had private and public functions. (Demonstrate who much of the crowd knows his name and work)
So I think so. Yes. What do I know about politics or Haitian prospects. To my admittance, not much. Do I think he is prepared. I don't know.
In his role as Ambassador in comparison to other Ambassadors, within his time period of his appointment by, now don't quote because I'm not sure but, his uncle, how much has he done, without his own money?
Wyclef is from the same place as my parents in Croix-des-Bouquets and though our Massenat family is not as know as Wyclef my father who is close to 70 years old damn sure knows his name and has come back to the States and have told me some of the work he's done. However, my father also of old school asked me as we were here in the states watching Wyclef around New Years, Lei Lei, let me ask you something, do you think an Ambassador on stage, with a woman with a little panty on is appropriate and will get respect?." I couldn't do nothing but laugh. But it did get me thinking over the next couple of days.
I think, if Wyclef puts his personal music career on a back burner, I don't mean stop promoting, or finding new talent, or creating a performing arts center. I mean, dancing on stage and entertaining. I think if he does do that, he has enough support, financially from the Americas and celebrities in it, and I think that he has worked on enough galas to see how they operate. I think is organization Yele has a documented trail. I think if he doesn't change and become unapproachable, an elitist, self serving, and partially Americanized, and bring other Americanized Haitians on board, and keep them in check as to the primary missions, he could run.
Who can beat him popularity wise?
Who can show they have done or can do more than he?
Who has as good connections as he, with the American Government, and the American Private sector?
What's the worse he can do, compared to what's already been done?
GO WYCLEF! GO WYCLEF! GO WYCLEF! GO! GO!
