I don't care if it is lucifer or jesus who is the president of Haiti, the most important to me is that he is working to change the image of my country (impoverished, embattled, poorest country in the hemisphere). I am sick and tired of those words being associated with Haiti everytime I'm reading a newspaper.It is time for Haitians to stop being Lavalas, Macoute, Opposition, Mulattos, rich, poor, from Cite Soleil or from Montagne Noire. It is time for Haitians to be HAITIANS because that is what we all have in commun. Stop the fight and start building the country.

What made you break your neutrality?

He's the people's choice and I respect the vote of the majority but I'll keep both of my eyes open on this government. Last time he was in power, at least their was freedom of speech, nobody was getting murdered or beaten for voicing their opinion (unlike the guy in South Africa) and I respect Preval for this. Also the fact that he was able to relinquish power peacefully and remain in his country makes me respect him even more. Can he help the country? If he's smart enough to hire competent consultants to help him with his projects this time around and refrains from speaking publicly when under the influence " Nage' pou souti" (and other similar comments, which prompted Boukman Experience's song "Pawol Tafia") hopefully he will do ok.

Will I support him? : As long as he is in power I would help my country through him if given the opportunity.

Will I ever vote for him?: No

I hope we can keep this conversation civilized, I doubt this will happen but please prove me wrong.

He has my full support, after all he is an elected president. I cannot say much about him for now. I am giving him the benefit of doubt that he might be able to help the country. I'm patiently waiting for his next move.

I love my country and I'm more than willing to support in anyway 'cause I want nothing but the best for Haiti. So....If he's doing the right thing...(Not just sit around in the office, getting drunk or travelling all around the globe).....I guess for the sake of Haiti...yes I will !!..... but keep in mind that I'll always be a Lavalas-hater no matter what....yokes

It's a misconception to associate Préval 2006 with Lavalas.

He split away from Lavalas and ran under his own banner named Lespwa. That newly formed party is the only one to be able to galvanize the different sectors of Haitian life.

Lavalas was represented by Marc Bazin who barely received any votes.

Je partage l'opinion de Haitiwebs et je ferai de mon mieux à ce que cette idée soit une réussite. Déjà, je souhaite au nouveau gouvernement haïtien une bonne réussite dans toutes les démarches qu'il se propose à entreprendre, car le pays ne peut plus reculer d'avantage, il est grand temps donc de passer à sa construction pour assurer sa survie.

I am happy the old type driver is back he is the one who solve the problem of haiti for the four years that he was on power the country have never shared no tears I am happy finally the result have been given at least haiti could come out in that brink congrat to all of you and better luck next time for these of you who didn't succeed best wishes to all of you it is a hope come true love you all from the Island od Sint Maarten.
