COPA LATINA
Foreign-born players dominate the rosters of Copa Latina teams, and rarely has a U.S. squad enjoyed a deep run in the tournament bracket.
The trend will change this year. Victories from Soccer Locker and American United in second-round matches assured an American team will reach next week's semis.
Propelled by four first-half goals American United defeated
Madame Gougousse 5-1 at Ted Hendricks Stadium. United's victory followed Soccer Locker's victory over Argentina West Palm Beach on penalty kicks.
Oscar Gil, Eduardo Beceiro and Juan Rivera scored within a 10-minute span in the first half as United eliminated a team that reached last year's final.
Former U.S. national team player Joe Max Moore successfully converted on the 12th-round penalty kicks as Soccer Locker rallied to defeat Argentina WPB 3-2 (10-9).
In Sunday's other games:
?
Seleccion Haiti 3, IBC Peru 2 (Haiti wins 4-2 on penalty kicks): Pascal Milien's successful conversion on the fourth round of penalty kicks secured the win for Haiti. IBC Peru appeared headed for a 2-1 win when Haiti's Hugens Cajuste tied the match with a goal in the 82nd minute.
