EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (MNN) - Last summer, three major European soccer powers including Real Madrid played matches against teams from Major League Soccer. None of these games featured the team in the world's biggest media market.In the summer of 2006, this will change.
According to Spanish media website Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona will play three games over a six day period in August starting against the 2005 MLS Champions, the LA Galaxy. Barcelona will then travel to the nation's capital to face DC United and will finish it's trip travelling to Giants Stadium to face Red Bull New York.
FC Barcelona is led by FIFA World Player of the Year Ronaldinho and teen sensation Lionel Messi. Barcelona currently is in first in the Spanish Primera and maintains an eleven point lead over the Galacticos, Read Madrid.
The dates of each game have not been finalized yet.
