CONCACAF has today unveiled the qualification road to the 2006 CONCACAF Women?s Gold Cup? following a meeting of the CONCACAF Executive Committee in New York City.

In the Caribbean the qualification progress will consist of four groups of four teams with games taking place in May. Each group winner will advance to a four-team final group with games taking place from 6-10 September at a venue to be determined. The top two teams in the final group will earn a place in the 2006 CONCACAF Women?s Gold Cup? (Spanish ? Copa Oro? Femenina CONCACAF).

The qualifying format for the five Central American teams, who are also joined by Mexico in the qualifying phase, is composed of two triangular groups that will be hosted by Mexico and Panama from 10-14 and 24-28 of May, respectively. The winners of these two groups, along with the two qualifiers from the Caribbean, will join Canada and the host USA in the 2006 CONCACAF Women?s Gold Cup? in November.

The six-team Women?s Gold Cup?, which will crown the CONCACAF champion, will also qualify two nations to the 2007 FIFA Women?s World Cup in China. The third-place finisher from the CONCACAF event will face an Asian team in a home-and-away playoff for the final berth to the FIFA tournament.
