Ronaldo rejected New York Red Bulls offer of 10 years for 120 Millon Dollars. He is staying at Real Madrid in Spain.
Brazilian international forward Ronaldo has turned down an 10-year, $120 million offer from the New York Red Bulls.
The Associated Press on Monday reported that the 29-year-old Ronaldo still wants to play in MLS, but later in his career.
"Right now I have a contract with Real Madrid and I'm only thinking about the World Cup, but without a doubt, the American market is one of my goals for the future," Ronaldo was quoted by AP in Weggis, Switzerland.
Ronaldo rejected the offer because he is content performing in Europe, his manager, Fabiano Farah, was quoted by the Estadio de Minas newspaper. The Brazilian plans to remain across the Atlantic Ocean for several years, Farah also told the newspaper.
"A transfer to the United States right now would not make sense," Farah told the newspaper. "He still has several challenges in European soccer."
Ronaldo's contract with Real Madrid runs through 2008.
Ronaldo is expected to start for the defending world champs when they take on Croatia in Germany on June 13.
He is tied with Pele for third place on the all-time World Cup scoring lead behind Germany's Gerd Mueller (14) and France's Just Fontaine (13).
Ronaldo has scored 61 goals in 97 international matches.
