May 30, 2006
Just about every day there is a new tale to the Ronaldo saga.
On Monday, the Associated Press reported that Ronaldo's agent said that the Brazilian superstar striker had rejected Red Bulls' offer to play for the MLS club.
On Tuesday, the team's owners, Austrian energy drink giant Red Bull denied reports it had offered Ronaldo a 10-year contract worth $120 million.
"It is false that there is or was a 10-year offer in the absurd amount of 120 million dollars," the company said in a statement. "There was and is no such offer for Ronaldo. Therefore he cannot have rejected it."
Red Bull did say it had been in talks with the Real Madrid forward, including a possible move to Red Bulls.
On Monday, Ronaldo's agent Fabiano Farah said that he had turned down that high-powered offer.
