In its first WC U-17 match, the Haitian team lost to Japan 3-1. Although they showed progress, we could still se that our players lack the experience to play at such a level. Japan showed their superiority from the start of the game, and made one mistake that would tie the game.
Japan first scored in the first half by OKAMOTO on a direct from a free kick. The score would stay that way until the referee brought the first half to an end. A time that the Haitian National team really needed, to gather their thoughts and remind themselves, that it is now or never to make a comeback and try hold off Japan well oil machine.
The second half started basically the same way, with the Haitian team trying to tie the game and host Japan holding them off. The first real opportunity came at the 60th minute after a shot to the goal was blocked by Japan goalie. It wasn't until the 71st minute that Haiti would tie the game by Guemsly Jr.
Nine minutes later, they saw their hope dwindle when KAWANO would score on an error by the defense and 4 minutes later Japan would put the exclamation point on the game, when KAKITANI who had just entered the game, scored the third and final goal to close the door on the Haitian National Team.
