Brazil's squad, strength and weakness

The Brazilian team selected by Scolari is very gifted in Attack, all the players except for the goalkeeper are proven goal scorers. What Brazil lack are defensive midfielders that can win the ball in the midfield and stop counter attacks. Nowadays defenders are doing a better job at clearing the ball, they go straight into counter attack. Masters of this counter attack system are the italians and with most of the players in attack, Brazil is vulnerable to counter attacks.
Goalkeepers
Marcos (Palmeiras)
Dida (Corinthians)
Rogério Ceni (São Paulo)
Dida has won both the Brazilian league and the Copa do Brazil this season with Corinthians. He is faster than the other two but his positioning has been poor, he's best at stopping penalties. Marcos and Rogerio Ceni both have great reflexes and positioning, they are both experienced goalkeepers.
Defenders
Cafu (Roma)
Roberto Carlos (Real Madrid)
Belletti (São Paulo)
Júnior (Parma)
Lúcio (Bayer Leverkusen)
Roque Júnior (Milan)
Anderson Polga (Grêmio)
Edmílson (Lyon)
Scolari wants to play a 3:5:2 with Brazil and reposition Cafu as a winger in the midfield. That's what his been playing anyway, Cafu and Roberto Carlos spend more time in attack than in defense. Roque Junior and Lucio often venture into the midfield and in attack. Depending on the starting line up Brazil might have 11 forwards in the field.
Midfielders
Gilberto Silva (Atlético-MG)
Kléberson (Atlético-PR)
Émerson (Roma)
Vampeta (Corinthians)
Ronaldinho Gaúcho (Paris Saint-Germain)
Juninho Paulista (Flamengo)
Kaká (São Paulo)
Only Emerson out of this group has consistently played as a defensive midfielder. Vampeta, Ronaldino Gaucho, Juninho Paulista, Kaká are all very talented and creative attacking midfielders. The other two are not experienced at the World Cup level.
Forwards
Edílson (Cruzeiro)
Denílson (Bétis)
Rivaldo (Barcelona)
Luizão (Grêmio)
Ronaldo (Inter)
Rivaldo and Denilson should really be counted as attacking midfielders and Ronaldinho Gaucho as a forward, Why? Because that's how they really play. Scolari should be very carefull because too many players are skilled to do the same thing. There's not enough defense in the balance. They have skilled attacking defenders and midfielders and they will create many scoring chances, but they need two more players like Emerson that are accustumed to playing defensively in the midfield.
