On several articles written about Rivaldo after the Turkey game, the international media even goes as far as undermining the players competence. Here's a quote from Soccerdaily:
"Rivaldo, in his second World Cup, has always been perceived as an under-achiever at international level, despite an impressive scoring record, and has much to prove in South Korea and Japan."
They even contradict themselves in the statement. Brazil finished second in the last World Cup, Rivaldo scored 3 goals playing as a midfielder. How's that an under-achievement. He was selected to play for Brazil out of so many talented players like Giovani Elber, Jardel, Paraiba, Amoroso and so many other stars. What does Rivaldo have to prove to the world? So many big teams ( I mean top of the world club teams) would love to have him as a player. The media's comment are unfounded, Rivaldo can only be blamed for one thing, he has done it in the past (with the Catalans Vs. Brazil game) and he's putting his foot in his mouth again. I hope this time he learns the lesson.
