On July 14, 2002 Haiti played the first Leg of the Preliminary round of the 2003 U-21 World Cup and managed to get a 1:1 draw against Dominican Republic at San Cristobal. The first leg was postponed from July 7, to July 28, 2002. Haiti won the second leg by a score of , Haiti 2:1 Dominican Republic. The golden Goal was scored by James Saint-Cyr at the 97th minute.
