The football clubs in Haiti needs sponsors, one source of income for Haitian football clubs are the advertisement that they can place on their jerseys, front, back and arms. In order to add value to the advertisement space on their uniform, a team need media exposure. The manager of the team need to emphasize to the players that the sponsors help pay their salaries and they can't do things like taking off their shirts after they score. Every TV interview or close up, is an opportunity to show case the sponsors.
The clubs also need to market themselves to make them attractive to sponsors. A club website is a effective tool of communication, so far I?ve been able to find only 3 websites for the 1st division Haitian team,
www.hfica.com ,
www.rouladofc.com and
www.baltimoredestmarc.com . The team T-shirts also need to be sold to the fans, it's a double edge source of revenue. The sponsors are happy when the fans wear the shirts, and the sale of the shirt generates revenue.
Another way clubs can generate income is through the trading of players, by training young atheletes the club is investing in a player that they can sell to another club later on. The Big clubs like Violette, Racing CH, Aigle Noire, Roulado FC have enough sponsor money to bring Argentinian and Brazilian players to the league, thus there's a possibility for trading Haitian based players between the clubs.
The balance between keeping or trading your best players as well as investing in newly scouted talents is the business of football in Haiti. We are not to the point that each club would have their own stadiums, like the English Premier League, but having their own stadium would generate some serious revenue for a football club in Haiti.
Before anybody can invest in soccer, we first need political stability. Haitian Football had to stop for several years in a row due to the political climate. Then we need electricity, when the games are played live on the radio and even better on TV, the value of the advertisement space on the team's uniforms increase 100 fold.
Thus in would take a combination of political stability, proper management of public utilities, proper management and marketing of the clubs along with private investors financing to push football in Haiti. Once all these are in place, Football will be able to feed itself and grow, Haitians love football more than any other sport. We have the public interest, we just need to bring it to them.
